While relaxing in bed after a long day, I was zapping through the channels and this british program caught my attention. It seems that in cities like Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and the strongest is in London…that BOTOX treatment is becoming increasingly popular among…..tadah!…anak ni Adan, yes, MEN…and no dahlin’…they are not gays ok.

I was chuckling, even amused in the beginning….but while I was becoming more engrossed with what I was watching, I was also forming the word ‘wow’ for these men. True, no matter what they say the reason for doing it- lines like: ‘It’s a tough world and they need to look fresh and young to cope up with their high powered job’ or ‘At my age ( 30 ), a salesman who’s trying to sell my products looking like 40 in the middle of the day because of stress, I need to have the treatment’.. I said I ‘wow’ them because they are not hiding what they’re doing – anymore- so there goes the ” women are vain species ” liner.

In one clinic, they showed men coming in for their appointments..actually good looking men, ( and in my opinion, they do not need that toxic injections, really ) of different professions…while they were waiting in the clinic’s lounge, drinking wine or whatever…these men were actually comparing notes about their treatment, which was so funny to see because they were just like women!! One guy, age 28 ( young huh? ) was a bit nervous cos it was his first time to receive it, “coerced” by his peers to do it ( yeah right… that was just pure vanity ). But just like their doctor said, no matter what reason a patient gives, it’s all about Vanity…and he’s right.

First treatment would cost about €500 , toxic would last from 3 to 5 months after the first treatment but by the 3rd procedure, it may last for 6 months.

Another segment. Camera rolling in a boutique, make up section…for, yep- MEN! They actually showed men trying the make ups on, from powder, eyeliner, blush on, lip balm and or lipsticks. Some men were accompanied by the wives too. I then turned to my husband who was next to me and i said: “you should try some make up too the next time we visit a perfumerie” ..he shot me a ‘bruha ka talaga!’ sharp-look, hehe.

So do I think these men are vain? Definitely. Crazy? Absolutely not! If women can do it, they are entitled to it too. Parang cool yata na your husband or bf can do your make up or give you manicure/pedicure ( in holland we do have males who do these for a living ) or give you a haircut…tipid sa pa parlor..kiss lang ang tip, o divah? And admit it or not, we ( women ) do not leave the house without a lipstick, powder or what have you…so isn’t it nice when you suddenly realize that you run out of lipstick, you can turn to your guy and say ” honey, can I borrow your pink-lush lipstick, I’m all done. ”

Buti na lang asawa ko hindi vain…kundi baka mamulubi kami sa beauty products…tama na ako na lang…buying them to conceal my shortages.

I had a long and tiring day today. Did so much work and for the first time, I was actually glad that I had no internet connection earlier ( for about 8 hours ), I never thought that’s possible with me, but ehem…it is! & now I know. I was glad that my connection was down, otherwise – naglakwatsa na naman ako – blog hop here & there- hence would have not accomplished what I was supposed to finish, *pat pat pat* on my shoulder

I even found the time to workout today, and boyyy! that felt goooodd!! Normally I’d go on my bike and on the way to the gym, ‘would pass through a long pond where ducks are normal sight. Sometimes I would bring old bread and feed them, love watching them come close and some are even bold enough to take pieces from my hand. Anyway, I noticed since last week, that the female ducks are nowhere to be found! I would see ‘em guys basking in the sun, male after male…but no female. Or if ever I’d see females, they were being chased by the males…aha! Oh yeah, it’s mating season and all the females have headaches

Here’s a sample of the bachelors lining up for a lone female ..ratio 1: 5

and here’s another one…all males

Funny thought really…most of the time, men say that we female chase them, that there are too much female on earth they can’t keep up. hah! tell it to the ducks! * QUACK*

2 more hours and my weekend is officially over and I dare say that I had a fantastic one! The sun’s been shining over holland since yesterday – I tell you it doesn’t happen much round this time of the year, my dear bloggie – therefore people are really taking advantage of it. And so we’ve been out doing some ‘summer’ stuffs ( in the spring…can you imagine that? that’s how much we miss seeing the sun shines..kawawa naman ano? )…like walking w/ no jackets on! and biking along the dykes..wowee! or actually using my sunglasses, gheez. It was heerlijk!, yup- super sarap talaga! Good to feel the sun against my skin.

Again this afternoon J and I decided to bike and went to the city without knowing that the market was on – normally market is open during fridays & saturdays – but the mayor and his cronies have decided to have it on sundays too to boost the city’s failing image ( long story…will blog about it someday. ) It was quite busy in the city, but we weren’t too impressed ( probably because our own city isn’t our favorite lakwatsahan ) but one thing kept our interest high though…and that was the dutch patat ( french fries! ) J ordered his with peanut sauce I know, I know..it doesn’t look tempting , I thought so too the first time I’ve seen a sack but man! don’t let that * beep beep * brown thing on top fool you..it’s really really tasty! I ordered naman ‘patat especial’ that’s with kurrie ( not curry ), mayo and fresh onion…ang sarap, juicekoh!…patay na naman nga diet eh . After finishing maybe 5 thousand calories of fries, we decided to walk it off around ( para namang ma bu-burn ano ) and we bought a ‘panulak’, shared a bottle of coke light ( nakakataba kasi yung normal coke eh, hahaha )
When the cola was finished, we then decided that it’s time to head back home and since I’m your typical woman with roaming eyes when surrounded by stores, this little cutie’s caught my eyes…rather her head’s caught my peripheral view so I bought stephanie …she’s about 5 inches long and her head jiggles, hehehe. Souvenir of my first sunny day, year 2004, in the city.

Well, ’till here for now, dear bloggie…gotta hit the sack as I must start my day early tomorrow…it’ll be a long day too, as J and I have a date in the evening.

What more can I ask for?

We don’t have a huge house nor flashy cars, nor a big garden, neither a pool nor an estate outside the country. We don’t even have our own garage. Neither do we go on vacation many times a year, nor we have ever tasted the best caviar or most expensive champange. We don’t go around playing golf nor tennis or even just goof off during the day or spend it shopping, that sometimes would just buy anything for the sake of spending. Husband doesn’t even own a versace necktie nor I own a pair of shoes that would come close to what the Hilton sisters wear. We do not have servants like butler nor a cleaning lady. Nope, all those we don’t have so what more can we or I ask for?

At 7 am this morning I opened my eyes with the immediate thought of thanking God for the brand new day, that He lets me live for a day again, thanked for the oxygen that I breath, for my wonderful husband who was still softly snoring next to me, for my ferrets who were up early and crunching loudly on their breakfast in their little house downstairs, for the sunlight that was penetrating the bedroom curtain. I thanked God for a peaceful night…and for the load of work that was waiting for me to finish.

I guess in life there’s just so many things that we really ask for, but comparing to what God wants, sometimes I am ashamed because what He wants is but a fraction of my time, to talk to Him. That’s all. So what I want isn’t important anymore. It’s all about being satisfied with all the blessings that come my way and not wanting what isn’t there.

I felt God smiling back and saying: ‘you’re welcome’.

Senti ba? Corny din ba? …ang ganda kasi ng umaga ko eh!!
