A Minute or Two, Please?

Happy New Year nga ba?

I fought with myself between writing this or not. Sometimes I can’t bear to watch the news anymore…. seeing the thousands of people who died, were wounded, and who lost their loved ones in Asia, I feel this tremendous heaviness on my chest. My husband advised me not to watch it for the meantime. How can you look at those children’s small faces? Children who are now orphans? If only we had the means, we would adopt as many as we can. I feel so hopeless. I myself know people in Phuket and haven’t heard any news about their status. Many of them are either pinoy musicians working in hotels near the sea or plain vacationers or those who are settling and are married to thai nationals.. Probably some of the musicians I used to work with were there. And now, all I can do is pray and hope that they’ve survived. News is hard to come by. I’m in contact with other friends in Bangkok and they too, feel so powerless. There are also numerous filipinos living in other parts of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia..probably in India and Sri Lanka. Dear friends, to those of you who will read this, I apologize and didn’t mean to dampen the New Year spirit, but can you please give them a minute or two of your time each day and pray not just for our kababayans but all who are affected. That may the survivors find enough strength to fight what’s ahead of them. And an extra minute or two for you and me, let’s us give Praise and Thanks to the Lord, for keeping us safe. I believe that sometimes, tragedies like these happen because we do not spend enough time with HIM. Let us make our new year worthy.
