Canon EF 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM
It arrived this afternoon, yes! My husband was already suspecting something was going on because each time I see a van driving down our street, I would look outside ‘with an elongated neck’ -he said, and with full excitement would check out the vehicles trying to see if it’s a delivery van carrying my lens. A disadvantage of sharing office with your better half, he sees everything! He even wants me to use the adjacent table so that he can see if I am chatting or not while working, ha ha ha! You see, my husband is now my boss. Finally I started with my new job as his book keeper.
Anyway back to my purchase. I must be nuts! Really really nuts! Just yesterday, I was chatting with a friend (chatting while working yes ha ha, my ‘boss’ was away making coffee) my friend and I talked about how expensive cameras and accessories are here in Holland. My friend wants to purchase a camera and I am helping him find a cheap dealer, while I really wanted a reliable carry around lens that I can use all the time. I still use only my kit lens which came with my Canon EOS 350D when I purchased it last year. I guess photography has become my biggest hobby to date, so I am also learning quite a lot about cameras and lenses too. Expensive hobby, tsk tsk. Well after a year, I decided to buy my camera a decent lens that I can use both for zoom and macro shots. To those of you who aren’t using DSLR, different perspectives need different lenses. And changing lenses isn’t always ‘fun’.
Only I found out that the price is a lot cheaper if I purchase it from the United States. Even if I pay for delivery cost, it would still be cheaper. Here in Holland, the cheapest I found was Euro 377,00 while on this website given by Girlie, it only costs $ 399,00. So that´s almost $200 in difference when converted. Argh!
But with all the dillydallies that I had, I made the purchase here. Because I was afraid something bad might happen to the lens during the trip, that was one. Number two, custom duties and taxes!
Well, I can’t wait to test this lens outdoor. One more working day and come Saturday, this new baby and I are having fun! I just hope the weather stays dry and that the sun will shine.
I’m going to turn in now, but before I go, I wish to say hello to all of you are visiting this blog and my other blogs too. I apologize for not returning your visits right now. I soon will or when my schedule permits. As I refuse to visit any of your blogs while I’m working - kinakabahan ako mahuli ng boss, kung chatbox lang kasi I can easily click the ‘X’ , while kung bibisita ako sa inyo tapos hindi makapag comment dahil hindi makababad ng pagbabasa- ayoko naman dumaan lang ng parang hangin.
