winter should take a break, for the sake of the animals.

Just when we thought winter has finally left, it snowed again yesterday and more snow to come, according to weather forecast. bummer! I know that I have been talking a lot about winter on my posts but I just couldn’t help it…it just wont go away. Not only that it has been tough for the homeless but for birds as well.
Just last week, I found a very hungry heron in our garden hovering on top of our small fish pond. The kois were supposed to be ’sleeping‘ on the bottom but a few of them were quite visible from the top. I guess the hungry heron saw that and hey, he needs to eat!
But of course I didn’t want the bird to feast on my fish, I shooed it away. Plenty of times! That’s how hungry the birds around are. If only herons could easily be satisfied with stale breads like ducks, I’d gladly give them some…but unfortunately bread isn’t on their diet.
So I just wish the winter will take pity on the animals and take a break. Which reminds me, I should be looking for a new uv pond filter, it’s been years since we placed the lastĀ  filter.

Hide from the neighbors’ eyes!

In our bedroom I placed my pilates machine that is hard to miss by the neighbors’ wandering eyes because its metal bars are long and well, really just hard to miss. Our bedroom is small so when my husband draw the blinds open, you’ll see the wall where the metal bars are against.

Thing is, my pilates machine has two metal bars where chainsĀ  covered with black material are hanging on both sides which can be easily mistaken as probably ‘binding machine‘ used by adventurous couples during ‘playtime‘ ( you know what I mean? or is it just my imagination?) You see, I ask my husband not to draw the blind too open because I don’t want the neighbors to see it (or get the wrong idea) especially now that I know we can’t hide anything from them across the street! I told my husband it doesn’t look like any normal fitness equipment but instead it looks like *bleep*, he laughed! And agreed, it could be mistaken for that…but he said ’so what?! then laughed out loud again!

Is it so bad if they think we’re THAT active? ha ha ha ha!!!

Pretty, but dangerous.

This morning I wasn’t too keen on going to school because it’s so cold outside. Also it was snowing that everything was covered with cold white blanket. Cold yes, rather too cold for a body like mine that’s built for Asian temperature but I must admit that I always think it’s pretty to see. My friends in Asia who have never experienced snow are jealous and would want to experience walking on it, or having a snowball fight!

But there’s an ugly part as well. Snow, when it starts to melt would cause slippery ground. That’s why people are warned not to go outside nor drive unless it’s absolutely necessary. I am quite afraid to walk on ground with melting snow thus I also do not go out unless I really have to.

This morning, there were quite a number of accidents on highways because of slippery ground. Imagine if you’re not insured nor your car? That would be dreadful especially during this recession. By the way, in case you need to find outr more about insurance, here’s a link for you: carinsurancelist.com.

Forecast for the coming days is temperature below zero and more snow. Well I shouldn’t complain since I also enjoy taking photos outside when everything is covered in white. Besides, it would be nice to have a White Christmas!
