for the money?

I wasn’t so thrilled when I saw these two young ladies as ‘live dancing mannequins’ in one of Rotterdam’s kleding winkels {clothes shop.} Do you think they were ‘happy’ while dancing like crazy behind the glass?
Call me old fashioned, but I felt it was wrong. Probably because I’ve never seen men doing this?

Call me Thess. Married to a wonderful Dutchman.

but then, a lot of people are not happy with their jobs, even those with high-paying white-collar jobs. so what difference does it make, ultimately?
meron din ganyan dito. live mannequins, mas artistic and dignified nga lang ng konti ang dating because they don’t dance. they just stand there, like a mannequin nga. people watch and wait for them to move and change poses. impressive how they can keep still…

June 7th, 2006 at 7:20 am

GHEE:
hello Ghee! mahirap talaga kumita ng pera lalo na kung limited ang sources ng tao *sigh* ..no hindi ako yan, negra ako ha ha and tnx, ive updated the link.
RUTH: the difference probably is that the white-collar jobs bring bigger paycheck home, so that somehow compensates the unhappiness..but youre right. no matter which job one has, one can never be always happy nor remain satisfied, one will ask for more, human nature, éh?
as for me, i was just an old fart passing by that store and an opportunist too! for the sake of this blog, took photo of those 2 who from time to time laughed {uncomfortably and nervously} at the spectators.
as for german mannequins, havanakuh, stiff talaga ha? he he
sure, amsterdam gusto mo ha….red district area? kailangan i-password protect ang entry *wink*
RHADA: ah, pag ikaw ipag chi-cheer ko, whohooo! next time, ibulong mo schedule mo sa akin para makapanood he he..
STEL: nyahaha cra! sige, kantahan na lang sila he he…sabi na nga ba, mag re-react ang foodie sa template eh…this was one of my oldest blogspot {era} templates
June 7th, 2006 at 11:50 am
June 7th, 2006 at 2:44 pm
I wonder which is more expensive, the non-living mannequins or the live models?
Maybe it’s a cost-cutting measure by the management, then again the models are of a different body build and type. Are they suggesting that the slim and slender (almost skin and bones) look are no longer fashionable?

Q and A!
In a system where oppression is present, even the OPPRESSED can be, and actually are also OPPRESSORS! Why? Because being recepients of “PRESCRIPTION”, they have placed someone in the other side of the desk.
But then again, a very nice post. Striking, though not unique — INTERESTING and REFLECTIVE.
I will keep coming back.
Siyang Nasa Kabilang Dulo Ng Kalsada

LINO: uncle, galing ka ba sa Davao? decent job it is, I agree…i was just saddened by the look on their faces, eyes…uncomfy sila..ayy! d ko type maging dancing mannequin, gusto ko sirkera sa cirque du soleil o kaya pole dancer *lol*
JHAY: a clothing shop rents its pops (mannequins) while hiring workers is much more expensive ( I know because I used to manage a clothe shop here.) People (here) are more interested in fashion than sizes. Clothes are available in ALL sizes.
Siyang nasa kabilang dulo ng kalsada: 1: please read the other comments then you’ll know. Bakit kailangan palitan? and the rest of what you’ve said, I have no idea what youre talking about. Thank you, I think, for saying this was a very nice post, even though it’s not unique. Yes, please do come back, youre always welcome.

June 8th, 2006 at 11:19 am
June 8th, 2006 at 11:50 am
Of course they do it for the money. I don’t think those girls would dance for free, di ba? :-) I guess they get better pay for working as live mannequins than, say, as waitresses. Hence, their choice.
I think the shopowners chose this kind of tactic to draw buyers. Effective kaya?
June 8th, 2006 at 3:32 pm
Well probably they are only happy when they receive their salaries! hehehehehe … Nice new look ate!!!
June 8th, 2006 at 4:56 pm
tsktsk, talagang all for the money tsaka unfair noh?
June 8th, 2006 at 5:37 pm
but i think i can do it much better :-) magkano kaya bayad?
June 8th, 2006 at 8:22 pm
GIRLIE: timing nga talaga, she was a bit embarrased though when she saw me taking the shots…the store was busy that day! see the balloons outside? mahilig din sa freebies ang dutch so pag nakakakita sila ng unsual dinudumog talaga nila..I just don’t know if the store made profit that day though.
JAYRED: hi J! sana nga malaki din kinita ng girls that day..kung effective sila? they did get people’s attention that i’m sure of.
CHARLES: hi Charles darling! sometimes I dance too when I receive my paycheck

MARIE: kailangan kumita eh, pero d bale, that was better than selling their body
JING: I’m sure you can!! for you, TY!
June 8th, 2006 at 8:46 pm

June 9th, 2006 at 7:56 am
Sigh, that’s their job. I guess the pay is good or there aren’t that many opportunities for them. Kakalungkot nga lang. :(
June 9th, 2006 at 8:41 am
.. my hubby thought it was the Filipina he met here in Germany a long time ago… are they pinays? it must be very awkward for them, but then again, it can be the opposite too. maybe they are the type who likes adventures and does really crazy things in life, just for the heck of it. if they have a blog of their own, they can blog about it too… :D :D :D
June 9th, 2006 at 9:03 am
