I climbed the top of St. Peter’s Basilica!
Wednesday, December 16, 2009 21:36December 11, 2009, our second day in Rome. We took a hop-on-hop-off bus that takes sightseers around Rome, taking them to all key must-see places. That day we planned to go to The Pantheon but while on the bus I asked my husband to instead we ride all the way to the Vatican, to which he agreed to.
Unlike when I first lay my eyes on the Colosseum, the biggest known church in the world- St. Peter’s Basilica did not gave me that ‘shiver’ BUT still, it was impressive inside and out. I will be sharing more photos on my upcoming posts but for now let me share with you one of the many shots I took upon reaching the top and outside of the church’s dome. I wasn’t prepared, didn’t know the challenge ahead when I agreed to go to the top. We were first taken up by a lift but after that, +320 steps were needed to be climbed just to reach the top. People along the way were puffing, one of them was me…. I actually stopped 2x and thought I’m having a heart attack, whew! But I did it! And to tell you, it was worth it. Breathtaking (literally) view
How about you, are you in a good shape? Let me leave you this link in case you aren’t insured yet: health insurance leads.
I promise myself that I’ll be in a better shape the next time we visit Rome. Because there’s still so many places we want to explore!
