A while ago after my conversation with my aunt, this is how I looked like
I called up my aunt who’s living in the states to give her the hotel name that we’re planning on booking for our vacation at the end of this year, you see my aunt will be joining my husband and I so I thought of letting her know which hotel we’ve chosen so that she can also give me her input, her ideas. I told her to check out the hotel’s website and even go to her travel agency so she’d know if they can book not only her accommodation but also her flight. I told her if I will do it from Europe, then she’d pay almost double of the price since the current currency exchange is bad.
But her reaction kind of surprised me. She got irritated. I was like whaaahaaat? (from the inside only, did not voiced out my reaction.) She didn’t tell me directly but let me feel that letting her know about the hotel isn’t important because she’s relying on my decision. Whoa! that’s just too heavy for me. I mean, it’s also her vacation and she needs to tell me how she finds things. She needs to enjoy her vacation, that’s my main concern. I also thought that when you want to go to another country for a vacation, you would want to check out where you’ll be staying, how and why you chose the place. I certainly would if the situation was reversed.
Anyway I’m not mad or anything….but I’m just a bit concern now…will we be having a nice vacation?…with my aunt in tow.

Alam mo, having gone on vacation numerous times with relatives, I realized that if you want to have a grand time it better be you and the immediate family only. Or in your case, you and hubby. Kasi ang hirap mag-estima ng mga kasama lalo na at cranky! Hahahahaha
Pero malay mo naman dyan lang sya cranky hehehe

Thess, pag pasensyahan mo na. Our personal experience naman with our parents is also quite similar. Pinky and I noticed that, at their age now, they do not want to really get involved with the decision process (tapos na sila doon). They feel na if it is okay with us then it will be okay with them too. Of course, before we start every vacation we always tell them na walang sisihan so everyone will end up happy.

I would say you did the right thing and it shows that you want your MIL to have a nice time too - a part of the anticipation I would say. So I would also say a strange reaction, but don’t put to much into it. Remember: most of the worries in life, doesn’t come true (so why waist energy on it!)

that would be my husband’s reaction…when i plan our vacations/get-aways ako usually ang nagoorganize, i check out the area and stuff… pinagaaralan ko nang maiigi ba.. sometimes i wanna check kung gusto ba niya yung place and more often that not ang sagot niya “bahala ka”.. and if i insist he’d be annoyed and tell me na makulit ako :D that’s why i dont bother anymore…
