CALLING ALL PROBLOGGERS, READ THIS!
I have decided to place all my blogs at risk by writing this entry. But I will not be silenced by fear, whether - HACKING OF MY BLOGS OR MY PAYPAL ID (OR EMAIL)- by INTERNET SCAMMERS out there! May this serve as a warning to you, to us all bloggers who are doing sponsored posts. MONEY ISN’T ALWAYS THAT IMPORTANT. And if you suddenly do not see my blogs or replaced my any ‘funny’ entries, then they’ve been hacked.
December of last year I was emailed by this certain ‘WILLIAM KLEIN’ offering me $15 per page, all he has to do is send me his own written paragraphs with links and to be placed on my normal entries. ‘Whoa!’ I said, $15 bucks! that’s cool! He has offered to use 5 entries initially so that totaled to an easy $75 bucks on my part right? thing is he wanted my Paypal ID right from the very beginning. Ah, smells fishy. I asked him or her where he’s from and how he found my blog, his answer:
I search your blog form google. I am from United States.
Kindly let me know if you have any other thing to discuss.

Aha! now dear readers, tell me where this IP:124.29.218.69 is coming from? That’s the same IP that registered in a friend’s blog where this scammer also hit him by offering this crap via email. The source is Pakistan, not United States.
We have exchanged so many emails and all I’ve been asking was for him to send his paragraphs then I will placed them on my blog. Normally, an advertiser, a legit one, will give you the links that they want to be placed as soon as possible on your blogs, they are after the links circulating the internet as soon as they can. Once they have seen that you correctly placed their demands, then they will pay you. Not the other way around of demanding your Paypal ID first.
But I never received a single link from this emailer. And then just a while back, I received yet more emails from him, I’ve had it! The following are exchange of emails, 4 hours ago.

thess, tatagalugin ko, ha. nakakatakot naman ito. pero nalilito pa rin ako kung paano nya mapapasok ang paypal acct mo kahit pa malaman nya ang email address na ginamit mo para sa paypal. di ba, yung iba pa nga, naka-paskil ang kanilang paypal acct sa website/blog nila (katulad nung mga donation buttons). maliban na lang kung alam din nya ang password mo dun? kunsabagay, ano bang malay natin sa mga kakayahan ng mga masasamang loob na yan! :mad:

I don’t think people should give out their paypal ID when someone ask for it. If you have other accounts with others who wish to pay you through your paypal account, they only ask for the email address you have with paypal. They don’t ask for anything else. So if you give a wrong email address, then the payment won’t push through. Your email address is unique and you’re the only one who could access it unless of your course your husband, wife or partner can, so if they’re paying you through paypal knowing your email address, that’s good enough.

Hay naku ate, ang daming nago-offer ng ganyan. Sa akin si Sara Naze. I ignored her na lang. Mabuti na lang natunugan mo na. Imagine, easy money! Kung naiba yan baka nabigay na ang Paypal email nila. This reminds me that I have to share my Paypal experience pala. Hindi naman na-hack or anything pero na-freeze and had a hard time claiming my 2kiaw! Naloka ako!

It’s a good thing there are plenty of tools out there in the web to somehow do a background check on almost anyone who contacts us via email. We just have to be extra-careful the next time.

i have received similar emails proposing to pay me for links. $20 naman per link ang offer. i replied once, without giving my paypal email, and since they don’t give the links to put anyway, i just disregarded them.

ang alam ko iba ang paypal id sa email na gingamit natin? Mero kasi akong paypal id na 5 numbers. Iba pa yung email. Paano na yung mga nag-aadvertise ng paypal nila? i mean yung meron plugin na donate? kakatakot naman ito kung ganun mommy thess. Much better kung lahat ng laman ng paypal natin dercho agad sa bank account natin. Wag na nating patagalin at mahirap na pala mawalan ng pinaghirapan natin.

I believe it is legit. legal business.
I also recieved something like this before and the payment is send to my paypal account. they ask you for your paypal id/username which is the email you use to open a paypal account. Give your paypal email and not the password.
my experience… they offer 22$ every pages they can embedded their 5-7links. then in received around 154$ -minus paypal fees.

This emailer has emailed me and a friend/blogger. We compared the IP and it gave us exactly the same but the names signed on the emails were totally different. The name it gave my friend was JENNIFER DESUE and if you find the time, please google that name and study the results that it will give you. For me and for my friend, that said it all. I simply do not trust someone who can’t clearly identify himself nor can’t give the company he’s working for.
Receiving direct offers such as these isn’t new to me, Jun. I am also writing for few programs that send offers/links via email. Thank you for your offer, I’ll keep your email… but as I’ve blogged days back, I am slowing down on problogging. I am quite satisfied with the programs I’m involved for now.

I got the same email. I sent my PayPal address. A few days later (today) I’ve got the paragraphs and links they want me to post on my web site.
I’ll post it to my web site and see what happens — if they pay, then it’s legit. The name I got on my email was one of the ones you mentioned above.

I also got the mail from Jennifer Desue and i was offered $10 per post for 5 lines of advertisement per post. I just placed the advertisements on my blog and sent my paypal id. I got a reply 5 mins back that she is going to ask her accountant to send the money so wait for a few hours.
The links she sent are all related to mortgage loans. Till now it doesn’t seem to be fishy, i am scared by reading this post. but how can paypal account be hacked as only valid password can open your account.
As i have already posted the links and shared my paypal so i dont have any other option but to wait for the payment. Yes but i can do one thing, I am going to make my paypal account 0 balance.

There’s no need to be scared but take precautions like emptying your Paypal account and if it’s possible to remove any bank account number that you use to transfer money from paypal, I suggest you do that too.
In my experience, these advertisers (most of them of course are just middle man) change their names, who knows how many have chosen to use the name Jennifer Desue, right? I hope that the one who contacted you is legit.

PS. to clarify as well…the big difference between your e-mailer and mine was that the links were given to you (which you already posted) while the so-called paragraphs that were suppose to be placed on this blog were never given to me, in fact I had to ask for them plenty of times but all this William person wanted was for me to first send my Paypal ID.
