kiss your cook, and not just today
Several nights ago, I caught Jamie Oliver’s school dinner, - do you know that brit cook?- my first time to see it, though I always watch his other 30 minute cooking gigs, but this was different since he goes to schools and tries to bully his way ( in a way he he) into changing the kids’ meal and give them non junkfood lunch. He has to teach anybody who is running the cafeteria to toss up some real food and throw away the easy junkfood kids are familiar with. My husband said he’s doing this program for the money but I had to disagree, well to a certain degree, because I could see his frustration when kids refused to eat what he has prepared. Hah! that’s like slapping him on the face really.
In this program he tries to convince the kids to eat stuff they normally will not eat and it’s unbelievable how kids’ likes and dislikes vary. I am not surprise at kids who don’t eat vegies but kids who don’t like chicken? NO CHICKEN?!
so imagine Jamie’s challenge? Sometimes, he’d let the kids prepare the meal with him but he doesn’t allow kids who bring their own lunch boxes to join them because they simply must eat solely what Jamie prepares. Some left the room and cried. Anyway, to make a long story short, he managed to convinced some kids, cafeteria cook and even the company which delivers the school’s meal to get rid of the junkies and give the children a more nutritious lunch. Also some of the children protested outside the school with boards saying: Jamie Go Away!
But this wasn’t it all. I had to laugh because of what Jamie did to Clinton, yep, the ex-president. Since Jamie is famous and has number of restaurants, it goes without saying that celebrities are among his clients. They also showed Jamie in one of his restaurants one night, neatly dressed in a suit without a tie (he’s a sloppy dresser really, the t-shirt loose in the arse jeans kinda guy) and in the kitchen waiting for his VIP guests’ arrival, pres. Clinton and his entourage. They have booked 2 weeks in advance, placed their order so the kitchen people thought they’re prepared. But when they arrived, they started to order South Californian style of food (whatever that is!) that made Jamie pissed and instead of giving way to Clinton’s request of meeting him, he hurriedly run to his SUV and refused to see the older man. Was it snubbing? I don’t think so. That’s what you get when you mess with a cook!
I thought Jamie was the man!!!
President or no president, King or Queen, you simply must respect the cook and his effort in the kitchen..or go starve. in this case, k.m.a.
Happy weekend everyone!

ANNABANANA: hello annabanananingski! tnx for the weekend greeting, i trust that you and the clan had a good one? did you know that Jules (wifey) also has a book published? these 2 are becoming rich. back to Jamie, I agree when u said that he makes cooking seems like easy, it’s his fusion way , aint strict & aint old fashioned.
RHADA: one of Clinton’s secret agents hurriedly followed him to the car park, but dude refused to budge. I can’t say I blame him. He’s maybe ‘just’ a cook and no VIP but he certainly showed guts there and stood his ground.
QUEENZ: hi queenzie :) i think i’ve seen some of those episodes you’re talking about. one thing that i also like about him is he loves playing with kids, makes them crazy desserts.
SHA: M is right! I also hate it when someone would ask for salt or pepper or ‘maggi’ (for heaven’s sake!) even before tasting what’s offered in front of them!
CHARLES: hi there! *highfive* for liking Jamie :)

oh well. i don’t know him. hahaha.:)
Pero, kakaiba siya. ;)
Buti, my mom didn’t spoiled me to junk foods when i was younger. Ang junkfood lang na hilig ko ay green Piatos -similar to Pringles Sour Cream and Onion. ;)
