Lakshmi, not the Goddess
Have you heard or read about Lakshmi? She’s a 2-year-old girl born with four arms and four legs. She’s absorbed her (parasitic) twin’s limbs, kidneys and other body parts. She couldn’t walk either. And she carried her twin’s headless body around. Can you imagine that?!

When I saw the VIDEO I was astounded because all of 8 limbs were moving. It was like seeing a Hollywood or Bollywood horror film (please excuse my choice of word, but I can’t find an alternative.) I must admit that the girl is pretty cute, bubbly, playful and well taken care of. Her family hid her because people from circus wanted to buy her. I also heard from a local radio news that the people in her village are angry, they do not want this operation to take place because they believe that the little girl is Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of Wealth and Beauty’s reincarnate. Oh brother! By the way, she was also named after that said goddess.

the little girl went under the knife the past hours, teams of skilled surgeons have tried to separate her from her parasitic twin, but I really don’t know if the operation is over as of this writing, I hope she pulls through. The hospital’s foundation is paying for the operation because the girl’s family could not afford the medical bills.
I’ m glad that we still have caring people, especially from the medical institutions..helping the needy.

Man that was so cruel of the circus folks to buy her for display in the circus freak show
It is indeed strange for someone to have such a deformity and we can understand some people’s reaction for her being a semblance of a Hindu diety ! I heard over the radio today that the operation was going to happen. I sure hope and pray she pulls through the critical surgery.

uy, teka, in fairness ika nga ni regine velasquez, super cute si lakshmi at kaaya-aya ang kanyang ngiti. as a matter of pak, kamuka mo sya nung batibot ka pa. di ba may picture ka dati na ipinost ni jingga sa blog nya? ayun, kamuka mo si lakshmi dun! at saka dun sa picture mo na grupo kayo ng mga tol-u mo na nasa flickr. kamuka mo sya dun! baka naman ikaw si lakshmi at nag reincarnate lang sya ulit at dahil nga pareho kayong bumbay naging 2 pares ang mga extremities nya.

Too many times I hear of parents from india prefering boys over girls. It’s so nice to see this family loving and protecting their daughter despite some challenging aspects!
I just read that the first stage of operation was successful by the way!

ay kawawa naman yung bata :( i hope her operation goes smoothly. tsaka shame on those people who want to display her na parang freak. bwiset sila. and yes, i hope she’ll grow up to live a normal life.

PINAYHEKMI: You’re absolutely right. Her parents are doing a splendid job! I was also amazed that despite of being poor, they did not allow that reason to have Lakshmi bring in the money.
Happy to hear initial operation stage is a success. But she’s a strong kid…I’m sure she’ll make it.
