Let’s do the Conga!

Earlier I was listening to the 80’s music and it really has brought back some nostalgic moments in life. Probably I am just aging but the more I listen to the music from the past, the more I’m becoming convinced that they are way way better than the music we hear today. Today’s music has those electronic irritating sound produce by of course, electronic musical instruments while in the past musician really used authentic instruments. Either during recording or live performances. I even remember when I saw Billy Joel’s concert in late 90’s in Rotterdam, the guy’s backup musicians were so good!! Especially his percussion section, it was unbelievably good! Billy even used his behind to play his piano, that was also hilarious.
And another artist that I listened to this morning was Gloria Estefan. All those Conga upbeat tempo that would really wake you up and would entice you to dance, even on your own ha ha! Yeah, that’s what it does to me each time I listen to her music. What I also find funny is that her band’s name (Miami Sound Machine) would always stick in my mind when I listen to her CD. Probably because I used to sing many of her numbers during my singing years in bands. In the past I wondered why they chose Miami for their name? Was it because it was formed in Miami? Do you think there’s a Music Museum there somewhere to enlighten me about this?
Hmmm, I have few friends living in different parts of Miami and have also been asking me to come over for a visit. How I wish I can just go and do just that! I don’t think it’ll be difficult to travel once I’m there since I can always rent a car in miami. Like when I found this sidestep.com , their easy to use interface offers all possibilities for anyone who’d want to rent a car. from pick-up location to drop-off location, there’s just so many choices.
So, will I do the Conga in Miami? I hope so!!

Thess, you were in a band before?! Wow, I never knew that. Your life in the Netherlands must be so different from what you were used to. Although, I’m pretty sure you are much, much happier now.
