Little GIANTS: Carl Daniel Mañas and Sungha Jung
They are simply little giants! Both young but have an amazing talent!
The first time I heard Sungha Jung was over at bw’s blog couple of weeks back. I was truly amazed at this 12 year old Korean talent in finger guitar playing. He was playing the movie soundtrack ‘Mission Impossible’ and my jaw just dropped when I saw him. Visit Youtube and listen to that, you wont regret it. For this post I chose 2 covered numbers by Sungha Jung.
“Fields of Gold” (originally by Sting) - Sungha Jung
“Anak” played by Sungha Jung
so what do you think so far? isn’t he good?!
Ito ang tanong, papatalo ba ang Pinoy? Syempre HINDI! Meet carl Daniel Mañas, a 4th grade student from Tacloban, Leyte.
Romance De Amor-played by Carl Daniel Mañas
” A Natural Thing ” also by Carl
Now tell me, who is better? It’s crazy how people are battling it out (with nasty words and nice words) about these kids. IMO, the Korean kid is a better player. He is already exposed playing with some popular guitarists, has loads of CDs to listen and practice to, and even got amplifiers for his guitar and if I’m not mistaken also has a mixer to make his sound more better. But I miss something in his playing.
Carl is not the better player. YET. Given all the extras mentioned above that Sungha Jung is enjoying, he’d be better. Am I saying that because we’re from the same country. No. That’s coming from an ex-musician who has worked with professionals in the past. That’s coming from me who’ s found the missing factor in Sungha Jung.
Carl plays from the
If he keeps that, he’ll be able to conquer the music world.
Goodluck to you both, Carl and Jung!

Thess, I can’t view the videos from the office so I need to look at it again from our house. I remember the korean boy, though. Ang galing. I was speechless after you shared his video to me. I actually went on viewing his other performances.
I’m sure the Pinoy counterpart is good too… I hope he gets a big break soon. In the mean time, he should practice some more and continue playing form the heart.

based on the video clips, the korean is the better player. but i have to say, his sound came out better than the flip kid obviously because he has all the other extras to make his guitar sound crisp. i still think that the flip kid is talented. guitar hero nga hirap na hirap na ako eh.
