I paid my physiotherapist another visit yesterday. Although I have been doing exercises and feeling that my condition is becoming better each day, I still am bothered from time to time by old pains (back, knee and hips…also neck.) The physiotherapist is happy that it isn’t only her whose trying to help me recover but most of all, I take actions myself. She compliments my eagerness with exercises, my understanding how they should be done and enthusiasm. But she also said that my pains will not go away just like a snap. A lot of hard work is needed, on my part.
It isn’t only that my condition is getting better, I’m also starting to fit into my old clothes! I actually ballooned from size M to L-XL, whew! Now I am between L and M (I’m talking about European size okay..not Asian size ha ha!)
So how do I do that? Believe it or not, Wii Fit Plus is my secret! I finally found a way to exercise that isn’t boring! I would do it in the morning ( at times upon getting up from bed, yes ) and now I added the Zumba dances to it. What can I say? I am benefiting and at the same time, truly having fun! I really really hope that this enthusiasm continues for a long time. Because boredom was the culprit that’s why I stopped using my pilates and cross training machine. I hope both Wii and Zumba wont bore me any time soon.
Some of the things I mentioned was also mentioned on this page, The Exercise Habit:
How do I stick with it?
Here are some tips that will help you start and stick with an exercise program:
- Choose something you like to do. Make sure it suits you physically, too. For instance, swimming is easier on arthritic joints.
- Get a partner. Exercising with a friend or relative can make it more fun.
- Vary your routine. You may be less likely to get bored or injured if you change your exercise routine. Walk one day. Bicycle the next. Consider activities like dancing and racquet sports, and even chores like vacuuming or mowing the lawn.
- Choose a comfortable time of day. Don’t work out too soon after eating or when it’s too hot or cold outside. Wait until later in the day if you’re too stiff in the morning.
- Don’t get discouraged. It can take weeks or months before you notice some of the changes from exercise, such as weight loss.
- Forget “no pain, no gain.” While a little soreness is normal after you first start exercising, pain isn’t. Take a break if you hurt or if you are injured.
- Make exercise fun. Read, listen to music or watch TV while riding a stationary bicycle, for example. Find fun things to do, like taking a walk through the zoo. Go dancing. Learn how to play a sport you enjoy, such as tennis.
You know what? all mentioned isn’t hard to do. The first step is really just to get my butt off the computer chair
my Zumba sticks (^0^)
