It’s paying off!

I paid my physiotherapist another visit yesterday. Although I have been doing exercises and feeling that my condition is becoming better each day, I still am bothered from time to time by old pains (back, knee and hips…also neck.) The physiotherapist is happy that it isn’t only her whose trying to help me recover but most of all, I take actions myself. She compliments my eagerness with exercises, my understanding how they should be done and enthusiasm. But she also said that my pains will not go away just like a snap. A lot of hard work is needed, on my part.

It isn’t only that my condition is getting better, I’m also starting to fit into my old clothes! I actually ballooned from size M to L-XL, whew! Now I am between L and M (I’m talking about European size okay..not Asian size ha ha!)

So how do I do that? Believe it or not, Wii Fit Plus is my secret! I finally found a way to exercise that isn’t boring! I would do it in the morning ( at times upon getting up from bed, yes ) and now I added the Zumba dances to it. What can I say? I am benefiting and at the same time, truly having fun! I really really hope that this enthusiasm continues for a long time. Because boredom was the culprit that’s why I stopped using my pilates and cross training machine. I hope both Wii and Zumba wont bore me any time soon.

Some of the things I mentioned was also mentioned on this page, The Exercise Habit:

How do I stick with it?

Here are some tips that will help you start and stick with an exercise program:

  • Choose something you like to do. Make sure it suits you physically, too. For instance, swimming is easier on arthritic joints.
  • Get a partner. Exercising with a friend or relative can make it more fun.
  • Vary your routine. You may be less likely to get bored or injured if you change your exercise routine. Walk one day. Bicycle the next. Consider activities like dancing and racquet sports, and even chores like vacuuming or mowing the lawn.
  • Choose a comfortable time of day. Don’t work out too soon after eating or when it’s too hot or cold outside. Wait until later in the day if you’re too stiff in the morning.
  • Don’t get discouraged. It can take weeks or months before you notice some of the changes from exercise, such as weight loss.
  • Forget “no pain, no gain.” While a little soreness is normal after you first start exercising, pain isn’t. Take a break if you hurt or if you are injured.
  • Make exercise fun. Read, listen to music or watch TV while riding a stationary bicycle, for example. Find fun things to do, like taking a walk through the zoo. Go dancing. Learn how to play a sport you enjoy, such as tennis.

You know what? all mentioned isn’t hard to do. The first step is really just to get my butt off the computer chair :D

What’s your game?

I am liking my new Nintendo DS XL! With bigger screens it’s just perfect for me to use. I must admit though that it’s pretty heavy because of its size. It took a while for me to get used to it since I was used to the smaller version which I previously had. I also find the new stylus much comfortable to handle, just like a regular pen in size. Even my husband who isn’t into games took interest on it. I was able to invite him to play a game with me one night. He joked though that it’s so big, just like a laptop that I should probably buy a laptop case (perhaps a Jack Georges? leather case? lol) for it.

Yesterday I bought two new games. Professor Layton’s Pandora’s box and a puzzle game which I forgot the name. I will post in the future my review about the games I am playing. To encourage as well as  discourage other console owners before buying new games, after all, those games aren’t cheap!

Anyhow, how about you? What’s your favorite game console? favorite game? Let me know so maybe we can exchange reviews.

when to stop?

Early this afternoon I was looking at photos posted by someone I knew from the past. About 13 years ago-past. She’s in her mid 40’s now but looking like someone in her early 20’s. Slim, sexy, still dancing and singing every night 7 days a week with her band somewhere in Asia. Wow! While looking at her photos (over at Facebook) I really couldn’t believe my eyes that for almost 25 years she’s been doing the same thing.

It seems like she’s not getting bored nor tired from doing her this kind of work. I wonder how long she would carry on? I mean there will come a time that even make up and botox can not hide- that’s ageing of a human body. I hope when the time comes, there’ll  be available careers for her to turn to.

But she’s right. While she still can..why not enjoy it, right?
