Ginger (sluierstaart)

I am not really sure whether Ginger is a male or a female. All I know is that I bought Ginger in Spring of 2008 when he/she was just + 2 cm long and now, at 3 years old, he /she is -/+10 cm long, healthy and just got a new home!

With this gloomy Dutch weather, I can watch Ginger and friends swimming in their tank for many minutes. Kind of gives me inner piece , pretty relaxing , imo.

DRACULAURA (Monster High)

Took a few dolls the other day from their display cabinet and had a ‘photoshoot’ with them. One lucky doll that was chosen was this one…

I think she’s pretty cute! I love that heart on her left cheek. Would have been cuter without the fangs but that would UNmonster her, right? ;)
Age: 1,599 (I can’t wait for my sweet 1600th)

Monster Parent: Count Dracula

Killer Style: I love to splash my black outfits with some cheery pink and I even carry a frilly umbrella so I can take an occasional walk in the sun.

Freaky Flaw: Since I can’t see my reflection in a mirror, I have to leave the house not knowing if my clothes and makeup are just right.Of course after 1,500 years of practice I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

Pet: Count Fabulous is my BFF (Bat Friend Forever), he’s a very proud and proper bat but I just can’t help but dressing him in the cutest little outfits.

Favorite Activity: I love smiling, laughing, and encouraging my friends.

Biggest Pet Peeve: The lack of vegetarian selections in the Monster High creepateria is so sad.

Favorite School Subject: Creative Writing. It gives me a chance to write sweet stories about my friends.

Least Favorite School Subject: Ge-ogre-phy. After 1,599 years I’ve been everywhere. . . Twice.

Favorite Color: Pink

Favorite Food: I’m a vegetarian, no icky blood for me, so it’s fruits, vegetables and a lot of iron supplements.

BFF’s: Frankie Stein and Clawdeen Wolf

Past preserved.

I was never a fan of ‘old’ things when I was younger. I used to think that old things aren’t worth collecting or using. How my thinking has changed since I migrated to Europe. Everywhere around me is just ‘historic’. Just like this street lamp which is still in used. -/+ 120 years old. People in the past used gas to burn it.

Now, street lamps such as this are turned on automatically every night. And out in the mornings. The difference?

Just the bulb inside, the rest…just like the way it was decades ago.

Isn’t it wonderful how Europeans preserve the past?

I'm a man. I am beautiful.

I have always wondered why these male ducks are more ‘attractive’ than the female ones.  Females are often white matched with brown color, which I find too ordinary (sorry  sisters) while males have this distinct glimmering violet sometimes blue heads. Wings are also darker and most of them have almost orange to golden tint at the side of their bodies.

They just need to be attractive so that the females will find them interesting?

Perhaps. Because nobody wants an ugly partner. Even animals?

What do you think?

Mom, can I play outside please?

Guess who sits regularly on our “welcome to our home doormats” by the door? Whenever he sees me taking the keys, he would assume that I would open the back door leading to our small garden and of course I don’t always do that but he’d make sure that I would! He’d give me this piercing look, he’s just so good at it.
BUT! If I let him out, I have to join him outside too! He just demands that!
Of course I always give in to him. Because I love him and I like him having a good time outdoors doing what he likes to do most. Play.

Only I end up with undone household chores at times.

But I really don’t mind. I like being outside just like he does.

Sunbathing dog and his turkey

Guess who frequent our backyard and lay on my sunbathing mat? Charlie and his turkey, Kippy! By the way, Kip means chicken in Dutch, and kippy is a cute way of saying chicken. How funny is that, a turkey called chicken! :P

Anyway, don’t the two of them look cute? Only when Charlie wants to be in the garden, I have to come with him and stay with him too. Whenever I come back inside the house, he’ll follow and urge me to come back outside with him and Kippy, the three of us should play together.

Guess who isn’t doing her housechores these past days? :D

Charlie is on training!

Except for today, the past days we enjoyed the sun. Yes, it was actually shining and brought us the most wonderful warmth I yearned since fall last year! And like those little ants, where else can you find the most of us caved (due to winter) people? Outside of course! But not only us, also the animals. I have seen the cows being let out of the barns for the first time after few months inside, and what did they do? Like human kids playing, they begin to kick up in the air because they’re so happy!

The youngest member of our family is the happiest of them all. If he can have his way, he would stay outdoors and play for as long as he can.

Does he look like in action here? He was, but not training. He actaully just finished peeing on this photo. :P

Acne riddled frog?

Yesterday the sun was shining beautifully thus together with my pug we enjoyed it at the back of our house. At times like this, I would just spread a piknick clothe where Charlie and I could sit side by side and enjoy the sun’s warmth. But guess who or what paid us a visit? This tiny frog!

I just heard leaves rustling from where I was seated and saw this tiny creature. I of course went inside the house to quickly grab my camera and take some few shots. While I was inside, I could totally trust Charlie not to harm it, he was simply watching the frog.
So there I was aiming the lens really near the frog because I wanted a close up shot. Good thing this frog didn’t leap off while I was on-his-face. When I first saw this photo, I kind of felt all the hair at the back of my neck standing because it looks like he’s got acnes all over him, yuck!! I can’t imagine those on my face, for sure I’ll go bankrupt for seeking the  best treatment for acne, wouldn’t you the same?

Anyway, I am loving this new P&S camera , a ‘new toy’ according to my husband. Canon powershot G 12 simply makes me want to carry it around instead of my more advance Canon 5DM2! All I have done was to watermark and resize this photo. The clarity blows me away!
