when should you stop bottle feeding your child?
This is Suri Cruise, Tom & Katie’s daughter. Suri has turned two years old and still drinks out of a bottle. Apparently that’s bad. The Daily Mail reports:
Parenting experts and paediatricians recommend parents start to wean their child off the bottle at the age of one. The cute toddler is frequently photographed drinking from a bottle - despite turning two last month. Dr Charlotte Cowan, author of the Dr Hippo parenting books, told Us Weekly magazine: “Most paediatricians recommend a bottle should be given up by age one - almost certainly by 18 months.”
Since my expertise is limited in pug rearing, help me understand. What is so bad in giving your child, Suri’s age, a bottle? Is it hurting anyone? Will it affect the child’s future disposition in life? Like I said I am not a mom that’s why I am asking here. Are ‘experts’ always right?
What’s the harm in giving a child this age a bottle, when it’s evident that she likes it, she drinks it and not wasting it…and obviously (IMO) it calms her.
Aww this child is cute. ‘Can’t believe she’s Tom’s.

Thess, I’m very certain that our two boys drank milk from a bottle past the age of two. I think we started to wean them when they were four (or something). They seem to be doing fine.
I can remember drinking from a bottle until I was in grade school (or at least until the nipple had a very big hole in it)and I tunred out okay, I think. So blah-blah-blah to all those parenting experts and physicians.

if you’re going to ask a pediatrician or a dentist, they’re gonna say it’s pretty bad if the child doesn’t wean from bottle feeding at that age.it’s because of the teeth development and plus my cousin who’s a dentist tells me never to give my baby milk when sleeping because the milk gets stuck in the mouth and it ruins the teeth in the long run :) but other than that i don’t know what’s wrong with it.

Maybe it has something to do with that it might hurt the teeth? Other than that, I agree with you!

I’ll tell you a secret, Thess. I’m worse than Suri: I stopped drinking milk from a bottle at age 7!
Maybe that’s why I grew up…weird (LOL).

I think it’s because the bottle supposedly hurts the teeth as they come in.
My kids had no problems with it, however.
